Mises, Ludwig von Mises  1881-1973

Fundador da Escola Austríaca juntamente com Carl Menger e Eugen Von Bohm-Bawerk. Defende a teoria da utilidade marginal do valor subjectivo e do individualismo metodológico. Doutorado em Viena em 1906 com The Theory of Money and Credit, publicada em inglês em 1934. Professor em Viena de 1913 e 1938. Escreve Socialism entre as duas guerras. Consultor da Camara de Comércio Austríaca Em 1934 passa para a Suiça, colaborando no Instituto de Estudos Internacionais Escreve em 1940 Nationaloekonomie, rescrito para norte americanos como Human Action, 1949. Um dos fundadores da Sociedade Mont Pélérin em 1947. Vai para os USA em 1940, sendo professor da New York University (1945-69). Escreve em 1956 The Anti-Capitalistic Mentality, an examination of American socialism, he dealt with the opposition of a variety of intellectuals to the free market; in his view, these persons bear an unwarranted resentment toward the necessity of obeying mass demand, which is the basis of prosperity in big business. Among his other books are Planned Chaos (1947), concerning socialist totalitarianism, and Human Action (1949; rev. ed. 1966), a treatise on economics.
